An exciting opportunity is available for a Jr Data Engineer to work for a reputable company based in Belgium. The position is remote, with an office visit once a month. This role is a contract position till the end of the year with the opportunity to extend/be made permanent which will be based on individual performance and business needs. Graduates are accepted with a Master’s degree in Engineering.

Technical skills:

• knowledge in developing and debugging in Java/J2EE (6-12 months experience);
• Maven, git, IntelliJ/Eclipse, unit testing (6-12 months experience);
• Proficient Linux user with basic Linux administration skills (6-12 months experience);
• Knowledge of Python (6-12 months experience);
• Fluent in English;

Are considered a plus:

• Experience in working with Hadoop/MapReduce, HBase, Hive, Flume, SOLR;
• Familiarity with No-SQL and ETL tools;
• Knowledgeable of the RESTful concept;
• Knowledge of data modelling and programming;
• Experience with performance tuning and profiling;
• Experience with agile/scrum methodologies to iterate quickly on product changes;
